Bill Whitten created the majority of the Motown look through the 60's and 70's. He went on to create such iconic costuming as Michael Jackson's rhinestone-encrusted socks and single glove. His death in 2006 left a huge hole in the costuming world. He will be missed incredibly.
Dixie Stampede
While working for Bill Whitten I helped create and install an entirely new set of costumes for each of Dixie Stampede's 3 venues in Pigeon Forge, TN, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Branson, MO. The costumes ranged from Confederate/Union soldiers and Southern Belles to stunning outfits for the trick riders and the special fx trick of a girl shot from a cannon.
Motown Cafe, New York New York Casino,
Las Vegas
I personally recreated the highly recognizable red fringe-skirt dresses for the Supremes mannequins and the bright green baby-doll dresses for the Marvelettes mannequins as well as the sequined cardigan for the Michael Jackson display ( featured and below).
Other items I created included a dress for the Martha and the Vandellas mannequin and various jewelry for other displays. (photos below, click to enlarge and flip through the gallery)
NBC Affiliate show
We went to Phoenix, AZ to costume the 1997 NBC affiliate show wherein we prepared custom built costumes for Brooke Shields for a magic trick, we costumed bizarre specialty dancers to accompany Sharon Lawrence and a handful of other specialty performers to do PR for various shows on the NBC network for the coming season.
Anita Mann Productions
Bill designed and I constructed/installed new costumes for a season of onboard shows for Carribean Cruises on ships based out of Miami, FL. The shows were choreographed and cast by Anita Mann, Santa Monica, CA.
